Award nominated British horror writer
Gemma specialises in the dark, confrontation and mysterious, with a particular penchant for the paranormal, the parallel, and the phantasmagorical. Which is a fancy way of saying she likes to write scary stories about things that go ‘bump’ in the night, but ground them in the human experience. Because the most mundane of things can be horrifying, when you think about it… it is how we react that breeds the tale.
Gemma has been writing for most of her life, but it was not until 2018 that she began to seriously pursue a career in fiction. Since then, she has released multiple novels, novellas, and short story collections, written countless works of short horror fiction, audio drama scripts and scripts for live podcast performances, appeared in podcasts, narrated audiobooks, and painted book covers for some wonderful authors in the horror community. She was nominated for a Bram Stoker Award in 2019, a British Fantasy Award in 2023, and a Shirley Jackson Award in 2026. She is a hybrid author, working with indie presses, Big Five traditional publishers, and self-publishing on Amazon.
